It depends on square footage, whether we’re tearing out an old surface, and the base and drainage work your soil needs. That’s why we measure in person and give you one written price, good for 30 days — never a phone guess that grows later.
Isolated cracks can be patched and filled. Widespread “alligator” cracking, sinking, or drainage problems mean the base has failed — and paving over a failed base wastes money. We’ll give you an honest answer either way at your free quote.
Most residential driveways are torn out and repaved in a single day. Larger projects with significant regrading may take two.
Don’t park on it for about one week. Asphalt softens in heat, so on very hot days that first season, park in the garage or on the street. Minor tire marks from turning in place usually fade after the first year.
The base you can’t see. We compact a 2–8″ class-5 gravel base sized to your soil and grade it for runoff — that’s what keeps a driveway flat through Minnesota freeze-thaw. A cheap bid usually means a thin base.
